Ocean of lost enzymes
We aim to unravel the molecular mechanisms employed by microbes as they modify their surroundings and influence ecosystem dynamics.
Microorganisms play a critical role in catalyzing biogeochemical cycles. However, despite their importance, we frequently lack understanding of the specific microbes involved, the molecular pathways they employ, and the governing factors that influence their growth and activity. In our laboratory, we seek to uncover these biological enigmas while deciphering the underlying enzymatic mechanisms that lie at the heart of these biogeochemical cycles. We use a combination of metagenomics, and biochemical approaches to uncover the secrets of microbial life. By exploring these microbial pathways, we aim to gain insight into the biological processes that shape our environment.
